A conversation that started this summer finally came to a realization in November, as Fabian Von Hauske, Jeremiah Stone and their generous team opened their doors at Contra, collaborating on a very special night with us. Talented artist Sophie Kitching spent days leading up to the dinner creating the frame of the dinner- serene projections of moon landscapes that was shown throughout the space. Diners enjoyed a a special Brutal menu at the hands of Fabian and Jeremiah, and amazing natural wines was poured by our favorite wine expert Jorge Riera.

Issue 2: Launch Party

For the the launch party for issue two we invited guests to come join us in the beautiful gallery of Christian Berst Art Brut in the lower east side in NYC.
Birthday cake was served and beer and whiskey was poured, courtesy of Tiger Beer and Bomberger’s Distillery. Our dear friend and talented Photographer Christine Hahn made a ‘stripped’ film for us to enjoy in the dark corners.

Food Book Fair: Foodieodicals

In early spring, we joined our fellow magazine makers for Foodieodicals, an all-day food magazine fest, hosted by Food Book Fair. We sold off the remainder of Issue 1, share our story, and met fellow enthusiasts of the form of printed publications. 

Fake Spring

The seemingly endless winter made us impatient for spring. We decided to usher in the season by creating a fake one with our friends at Food Life and Coming Soon. Thirty guests enjoyed small plates from local restaurants in the Lower East Side, potluck style. The restaurants involved were our friends at Dimes, Mission Chinese NYC, El Rey Coffee Bar & Luncheonette, and Pies ’n’ Thighs. Decorations were provided by the lovely duo behindChiaozza.

Brutal Juice

March 18 – 19, 2015

After teaming up with Morgenstern’s for breakfast, we just had to pair up for dinner. Over 150 guests joined over the span of two magical nights. We transformed a raw space in SoHo into a rich and moody rainforest. David Tanis, cookbook author and columnist for The New York Times, and Gerardo Gonzalez, chef of El Rey Coffee Bar & Luncheonette, collaborated on Mexican-inspired dishes, served with wine pairings; Yana Volfson, of Cosme, crafted cocktails.
